The make-a-thek Mobility Scheme and Knowledge Exchange Programme connects creative spaces, public libraries, and makers across Europe and beyond to share skills in circular fashion, traditional crafts, and technology.
Each year, the programme will support up to 12 participants through the Mobility Scheme (Track A) and up to 12 participants through the Knowledge Exchange Programme (Track B). Participants are selected through an annual rolling open call and matched with opportunities across the make-a-thek network.
There are three main areas of the programme:
- Circular Fashion
- Digitising Traditional Crafts
- Open Technologies
Activities may take place at the Pilot library or at a partner venue, makerspace, festival or other community location within the host region.
Mobility Scheme
- For experienced practitioners, aka make-a-thek Experts.
- Travel to a EU pilot location and join events across Europe.
- Develop a workshop, talk, or hands-on training sessions and share your expertise on-site.
- Receive a 1,000 EUR stipend to support your expenses.

Knowledge Exchange Programme
- For learners, practitioners, makers, craftspeople, librarians.
- Travel to either Barcelona or Berlin for a 2-day in-person group meet-up.
- Learn new skills, grow your network and organise a local knowledge-sharing activity.
- Receive a 850 EUR stipend.
Destinations:
- Knowledge Exchange Programme 2026 (Track B): Cohort #1 Barcelona (between end of November and start December 2026)
- Knowledge Exchange Programme 2027 (Track B): Cohort #2 Berlin (May 2027)
This is a rolling open call from August 2026 until 31 March 2027, with up to 12 participants per track each year.
