    News / on-the-fly: Live Coding Research Residencies (Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Netherlands)

    The Creative Europe project on-the-fly will award three grants to develop research projects involving live coding practices. The residencies will be hosted by one of the partner institutions: Hangar, ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Creative Coding Utrecht, and Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory. Each residency will last between 3 weeks and 1 month. The time-periods will depend on the needs of the project as well as the place where they are carried out.

  • News / A-Place: Video Production Open Call 2021

    As a member of the international collaboration A-Place, LOOP (a platform dedicated to the study and promotion of the moving image) will commission a video production to investigate the process of creating a sense of place in one of the six cities participating in the project (Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Lisbon, Ljubljana and Nicosia). Multidisciplinary artists who are legal residents in the European Union can apply.

In 2021, there are several dates available for one-month funded residencies in spacious studios, in the quiet courtyard of the Vetrinj mansion located in the strict centre of Maribor, including the possibility of presenting the newly created production in the Gallery K18.

    News / Open Call for Live Coding Projects for ‘On-the-fly’ (Germany, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain)

    ‘on-the-fly’ is a Creative Europe project, led by Hangar in partnership with ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Ljudmila and Creative Coding Utrecht, committed to supporting the development of European live coding practices. The current open call will award 8 grants and accompanying residencies to develop artistic productions involving live coding practices. Each residency will last from 15 days to 1 month (schedule tbc). Researchers, artists, developers and members of collectives of all ages (over 18 years old) and nationalities working in the field of live coding can apply.

    ART4MED is an international project investigating how art and design can meet open science to improve access to healthcare. The current call is addressed to projects in the field of (self-)experimentation and collaborative projects between artists, scientists and other professionals from the field of (open) medicine. The residency programme has a research phase (January–June 2021), followed by a production phase (July–December 2021), including a physical residency in Ljubljana, Slovenia with a duration ranging from 15 days to 2 months.

    The CEI Award for Writers in Residence is an award aimed at encouraging cross-border cooperation and promotion in the field of literature for young writers from the CEI Member States (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine). The award supports the winner to make a one-month stay in a CEI Member State of their choosing, anytime in 2021. Writers from all genres under the age of 35 from the CEI Member States are eligible. Deadline: 15 June 2020.

  • News / Ljubljana UNESCO City of Literature > Writer in the Park International Literary Residency

    Ljubljana, a UNESCO City of Literature since 2015, is offering two one-month residencies for writers at the Švicarija / Swisshouse Creative Centre located in the heart of Ljubljana’s central park where it is part of the International Centre of Graphic Arts. One residency will take place May 2020 and the other November 2020. Applicants must have a ‘palpable, factual relation’ with any of the other UNESCO Cities of Literature. Deadline: 29 February 2020.
