    HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites Nordic and Baltic art practitioners to apply for residencies in HIAP Suomenlinna in autumn 2021 and spring and summer 2022. The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open for art professionals from other disciplines as well. Applicants should reside in the Nordic-Baltic region (except Finland).

  • News / Bioart Society: ‘M/other Becomings’ Open Call (Finland)

    M/other becomings is a collaboration between Laboratory for Aesthetics and Ecology (DK), The Association for Arts and Mental Health (DK), Kultivator (SE), Art Lab Gnesta (SE), and Bioart Society (FI). This open call is searching for artwork production proposals that explore reproductive futures and how life sciences transform and challenge our ideas and possibilities of reproduction and the maternal. The final work will be included in the m/other becomings exhibition during spring 2022 in Helsinki. Artists, researchers and practitioners can apply as individuals or as working groups.

  • News / Kone Foundation: Saari Residence (Finland)

    The Saari Residence in Finland, Northern Europe, is an international artist in residence for professional artists and artist collectives of various fields. The residency is maintained by Kone Foundation and located in Mynämäki, Southwest Finland. The two-month artist residency periods run from September to April, with eight Saari Fellows staying at the residency at a time. From May to August, the Saari Residence is reserved for intensive group work. Applications are now open for residencies next year.

  • News / Face to Faith: Open Call for Performing Arts Project Proposals on the Topic of Faith (Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Israel, Poland and Ukraine)

    Face to Faith is an international cooperation project aiming to understand the diverse meanings of faith in European societies. The Face to Faith project involves producing seven new performance productions, with each of the seven project partners managing one of the productions. After the premiere held by the producing partner organisation, the project will tour each production in at least one other Face to Faith partner city. The productions will premiere between October 2021 and September 2022.

  • News / CROWD International Dance Exchange (Finland, Netherlands, UK, Germany)

    CROWD is a dance residency programme developed together with European partners in a time when international sharing and human togetherness is needed more than ever. It aims to support dance artists with an established practice in community engaged dance making. Participating artists will take part in a series of residencies in Germany, Finland, the Netherlands and the UK in the second half of 2021. Participants must be based in the UK, North Rhine-Westphalia, the Netherlands or Finland and will need to be able to work in both the UK and the EU.

    The Octopus Programme is a guided research-based educational programme that encourages artistic research across sectors. The call for the next phase of the programme is open to all Diploma Students, Master’s and PhD students at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design Stockholm, as well as artists from or based in South Africa, Palestine and Tunisia. Applicants should have oral and written proficiency in English and be able to travel abroad twice between June 2021 and June 2022 (5 to 7 days).

    Tanssin Aika festival in Jyväskylä, Finland will take place 22-25 September 2021. It invites choreographers and dance artists to propose pieces for two calls: first, a call for an existing work that can be made with local 17-20 year olds; second, a call for indoor and outdoor performances to present at the festival.

    The 20th edition of ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival will take place 14-19 September 2021 in Kuopio, Finland. The organisers are inviting artists, working in any field, to propose projects that directly engage with the theme of gifts and giving. Proposed projects must respond to the festival’s focus on public space (including interior and privately owned spaces). (ANTI does not show projects in traditional cultural spaces.)
