    RMIT Europe, a member of the CreaTures consortium, invites applications for the awarding of a single subcontract to conceptualise and realise Open Urban Forest, an Experimental Production (ExP) to explore multiple voices, relations, and stories that form and emerge from an urban forest, and can inspire new ways to imagine socio-ecologically sustainable futures. Work is expected to take place in a hybrid online/in-person format, beginning in November 2021 and finishing by the end of June 2022. The final artwork will be presented in Barcelona, September 2022.

    News / REAL-IN: Residencies Focusing on Music Festivals, Performing Arts and the Fashion Industry (France, Spain, Italy)

    REAL-IN is calling for creatives and artistic teams with an immersive and/or interactive project (in development or finalised) into which they would like to implement a collective and interactive dimension. Your project must be in one the following sectors: Music Festivals, Performing Arts or Fashion Industry. Particular attention will be paid to projects that combine those disciplines. Residencies will take place between October and December 2021. Applicants will be eligible from any country in the world.

    News / on-the-fly: Live Coding Research Residencies (Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Netherlands)

    The Creative Europe project on-the-fly will award three grants to develop research projects involving live coding practices. The residencies will be hosted by one of the partner institutions: Hangar, ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Creative Coding Utrecht, and Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory. Each residency will last between 3 weeks and 1 month. The time-periods will depend on the needs of the project as well as the place where they are carried out.

It offers a month’s stay (30 nights) in Granada for two writers, between 2 November and 1 December 2021. The writers in residence will be expected to participate in activities related to the local literary system, as proposed by the programme’s organisers.

    The S+T+ARTS AI and Music Festival 2021 has launched an international call for projects dedicated to AI and music led by Sónar and UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya). Aimed at musicians, researchers and AI specialists, the festival is searching for performances, tools and software, and research and co-creation projects that explore the intersections between music of all genres and Artificial Intelligence. The selected projects will be showcased at the S+T+ARTS AI & Music Festival which will take place in Barcelona 27 & 28 October 2021.

  • News / Production Research Grants for Art-Science-Technology Projects (Spain)

    The Institut Ramon Llull, New Art Foundation, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), La Caldera and Hangar open a call for five grants for the production-research of artistic pieces in the field of the confluence between art, science and technology. The development of the projects will have the means, advice and workspace of the Hangar Interaction Lab in Barcelona, Spain. The development of the projects will have, optionally, a residency process and/or advice in one of the research centers attached to the call through Hac Te. Artists, researchers and developers of any age and nationality can apply for these grants. Dates for activities vary but take place within 2021.

    News / Who Cares?: Open Call for ‘Transversal Aesthetics / IMMUNITY – COMMUNITY’ (Spain / Remote)

    Idensitat and Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Huarte are offering a residency to one artist, or collective of artists, to develop a project within the social context of the towns of Huarte, Burlada and Villava (Navarra) and under the theme ‘Immunity Community’. The residency is proposed as a hybrid of on-site and remote work in order to complete the project. The on-site period will last approximately five weeks between October 2021 and April 2022.

    In the framework of the European project Who Cares?, Centro Huarte is offering an international residency programme for two or more artists, taking place from 1 September to 24 October 2021. Projects are encouraged to investigate care and affective practices in relation to the current moment we are living through.     The Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. Artists and designers working with art and technology are eligible to apply if they are under the age of 35 and/or have graduated within the past five years, and live in a country where there is a Summer Sessions sponsoring partner (Netherlands, Taiwan, Spain, Austria, Russia, China, South Korea, Croatia and Belgium). Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between July and September.

    Espacio Inestable (a performing arts venue in Valencia) and BenAmil (a rural artists’ residence in the Valencian mountains) are organising the first call for the (2+2)2 project. This project will offer four creative residencies aimed at national and international dance and circus proposals for artists from outside the Valencian Region. Circus residencies take place 3-9 September 2021 and dance residencies from 22-28 November 2021.

    PEN Català, in collaboration with the Ramon Llull Institute and with the support of the European Union, is opening a call for young, emerging writers who wish to take part in a literary residency at Faberllull in Olot, Catalonia from 1-8 October 2021. Applicants must have nationality or residency in one of the member countries of the European project Be(P)art - Belgium, Spain, Hungary, and Serbia - and write in Catalan, Dutch, Galician, Hungarian, and Serbo-Croatian.
