King’s College London / Mahler & LeWitt Studios: 2025 Ivan Juritz Prize (Italy)

Mahler & LeWitt written on a light background.

The Ivan Juritz Prize was established in 2014 to celebrate the creative explosion of the modernist era and reward art that seeks to ‘make it new’. The prize is a collaboration between the Hub for Modern Literature and Culture at King’s College London and Mahler & LeWitt Studios in Spoleto, Italy.

Postgraduate students in Europe from traditional academic disciplines or creative courses are invited to submit texts, films, musical compositions, virtual documentation of artwork, excerpts of moving image work and proposals for installation and performance. Entrants are encouraged to play with form to make us think, feel and question.

Shortlisted works are showcased at the prize-giving ceremony at King’s College London and written up in the journal Textual Practice. Granta has featured work from the Ivan Juritz Prize winners. The 2025 prize is judged by Katharine Kilalea, Mandy El-Sayegh and Sadie Harrison.

Winners in three categories (Text, Sound and Visual Arts) receive 1,000 GBP each and a joint two-week artist residency, including travel expenses, at Mahler & LeWitt Studios, a unique environment for developing new ideas and artistic collaborations.
