Halaqat launches its final Open Call for Projects, inviting artists, collectives, and cultural organisations based in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Belgium to submit proposals for projects that engage with the themes of care and gender.
Through this call, Halaqat seeks to support innovative artistic and cultural practices that reflect on how care can be reimagined and practiced across different contexts. The selected projects will be developed and implemented between January and November 2026.
Centred on the theme of care in relation to gender, Halaqat fosters artistic and cultural exchange while exploring how practices of care can be expressed and reimagined in society. It supports co-creation and community engagement through two schemes: the Art Production Support Scheme and the Care Initiatives Support Scheme.
The programme supports artistic, cultural, and community-focused projects. The Art Production Support Scheme funds the production of new works in visual and digital arts, performing arts, music and sonic arts, literature, and multidisciplinary practices. The Care Initiatives Support Scheme supports knowledge-based and community-rooted projects such as research, publications, podcasts, curriculum development, digital platforms, and workshops.
Eligibility extends to individuals, collectives, and institutions based and active in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Belgium. Applicants may include artists, curators, cultural practitioners, educators, researchers, producers, civil society actors, independent spaces, and organisations, with applications welcomed from both emerging and established actors.
A total of 42 projects will be supported. Grants include 26 small-scale awards of up to 2,500 EUR and 16 medium-scale awards of up to 9,800 EUR (and can include travel costs). In addition to financial support, selected applicants will benefit from mentoring, capacity-building, peer exchange, and opportunities to present their work publicly in collaboration with local Goethe-Institutes.
