The Pina Bausch Centre is searching for seven productions with concepts for sustainable DanceMusicTheatre performances, especially those involving young people on stage and in the production process, to be performed at FRAGILE – the International Festival for Young DanceMusicTheatre, in Wuppertal (Germany) from 24 September to 6 October 2024.

The festival will take place in the Schauspielhaus and future Pina Bausch Centre, and will explore climate-neutral forms of production and new aesthetics for ecological sustainability.

National and international initiatives, producers and artists are invited to present their productions around the topics of networked, collaborative and proactive: How can the stage become a field of experimentation on the topic of sustainability? What unique power does dance possess in cultivating global empathy? Can we organise international productions more sustainably? How can actions of solidarity in the arts be brought into focus? What new narratives, spaces, materials, and modes of production can be developed in terms of energy, mobility, food, and forms of collaboration, and communication?

Ideally, participating productions will be tandems of art and ecology or climate initiatives, and have involved young people in different stages of the production process. The organisers are searching for productions that reach a young audience and people of all generations, indoors or outdoors.

Concepts should include a short project description outlining the unique sustainability concept, as well as budget, CVs of project organisers, list of all individuals involved in the project, video links, and technical information/tech rider. Travel and transportation costs, accommodation, fees, per diems, and technical support will be covered.
