YARAT Contemporary Art Space: Performance Week Call for Artists (Azerbaijan)

Title of the call on a blue image of a face.

YARAT Contemporary Art Space is calling for applications for Performance Week, a public programme within their ongoing exhibition ‘Once a Sea’, which explores the ecological, emotional, and cultural imprints of the Caspian Sea.

Long approached as a site of extraction and control, the Caspian is now physically and symbolically receding. As its boundaries shift, so do the stories and meanings tied to it. This open call encourages artists to engage with the sea not as a distant backdrop, but as a living, unstable material—loaded with history, emotion, and potential.

YARAT is inviting local and international artists working in performance, time-based media, text, or participatory practices to apply.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to:

  • Present their work during Performance Week at YARAT Contemporary Art Space, as part of the Once a Sea exhibition programme.
  • Participate in a preparatory workshop and receive mentorship from the guest curator and YARAT’s curatorial team.
  • Receive logistical support, including rehearsal space, basic materials, technical equipment, and on-site assistance.
  • Have their transportation, accommodation, and per diems fully covered by YARAT.
  • Be featured on YARAT’s media platforms – social media, website, and press.
  • Gain valuable professional networking opportunities with artists from different countries.
