This call is aimed at young instrumentalists wishing to take part in an orchestra academy in Liepāja, Latvia, from 28 March to 5 April 2027, at the Great Amber Concert Hall.
The academy will offer a week of training exploring Ludwig van Beethoven’s musical legacy and its connections with European musical traditions, marking the bicentenary of his death. Young musicians will work alongside musicians from the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe, and prepare a programme in collaboration with a choir of 28 singers, culminating in a final concert at the Great Amber Concert Hall.
The artistic programme will centre on Luigi Cherubini’s Requiem, alongside a selection of classical and contemporary works from Ukraine and Latvia. Through the principles of Historically Informed Performance, participants will explore this repertoire in a collaborative orchestral and choral setting, combining artistic research, interpretation, and ensemble practice.
The programme is looking for 28 singers and 38 instrumentalists from across Europe and eligible neighbouring countries to join the 2027 Artemis Academy in Liepāja.
Eligibility includes:
- Be 18 years old to 35 years old
