    The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) is an initiative focusing on the improvement of operating conditions for cultural and creative industries. The activity area covers 11 countries: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. NDPC are offering a full-time position of a Cultural and Creative Industry Project Advisor at the NDPC Secretariat in Riga.

  • News / VV Foundation: Pair Residency for Art, Culture and Humanities Professionals from Nordic-Baltic States (Latvia)

    VV Foundation announces the inaugural PAiR residency open call for art, culture and humanities professionals active in various fields and roles – artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, writers and others – from Nordic and Baltic states. The PAiR programme will take place from 30 August – 31 October 2021 and will be dedicated to researching the surroundings and cultural-natural phenomena of the Lavian town of Pāvilosta.

    The Translation in Motion consortium of translation residencies invites applications by literary translators working from or into the languages of the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia). Translation in Motion is a programme that aims to enrich and intensify the flow of translated literature in contemporary Europe, and specifically between the Western Balkans countries and the EU member states. Applications till 30 April 2021 (check carefully the calls related to each organisation as some deadlines may be before like for Bulgaria).

  • News / NDPC - Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture: Project Manager / Communications Manager (Latvia)

    The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture focuses on improving operational conditions for cultural and creative industries, bridging the gap between various sources of funding and sectors of activity, and strengthening cooperation between project owners, business communities, the public sector and international institutions throughout Northern Europe. NDPC are currently recruiting for two separate positions - a Project Manager and a Communications Manager. Both posts will start 15 March 2021 or as soon as possible and are based in Riga, Latvia.

  • News / BETA CIRCUS > International Open Call (Serbia, Italy, Portugal, Latvia)

    BETA CIRCUS aims to address new trends in contemporary circus and to offset the lack of opportunities for artists to get training at a high professional level. 12 participants will be selected for an international capacity building programme in new trends for circus arts, with a focus on new magic, to be promoted in between May 2021 and March 2022 with training weeks in Serbia, Italy, Portugal and Latvia.

  • News / Ģertrūdes ielas teātris > Theatre and Dance Residencies for Baltic/Nordic Artists

    The new residency programme of the theatre Ģertrūdes ielas teātris in Riga offers support to young contemporary performing arts professionals from Baltic countries (except Latvia) and Nordic countries working in the fields of theatre and dance. The residency offers an opportunity to work on the development of an artistic project during a four-week research phase. Two individual artists or artistic groups (max 4 participants) will be selected for two residencies: 20 July – 16 August 2020 and 24 August – 20 September 2020. Deadline: 7 June 2020.

  • News / REMAIIN > Open Call for New Music Works

    The European project REMAIIN (Radical European Music and its Intercultural Nature) has announced an open call for musical proposals that deal with or incorporate non-western influences in experimental and new music. Four new works or collaborations will be chosen and presented at least once in either Latvia, Portugal, Germany or Belgium by one of the participating organisations of the project. When selecting the works, an emphasis will be put on artists based in Europe. Deadline: 15 April 2020.

    Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre invites fine-art photographers to apply for ‘One – Artist International Photography Symposium – Residence’ in the city of Daugavpils, Latvia. The symposium will take place within the framework of the Riga Photography Biennial 2020, ‘Archaeology of Reality’, and will run 14-24 April 2020. Deadline: 10 March 2020.

    The Female Filmmaker Network aims to bring together female filmmakers – directors, producers, cinematographers, sound recordists, editors and others – from Estonia, Latvia and Sweden. The Network has launched an open call for filmmakers from these three countries to attend three workshops: in Cesis, Latvia, 31 May - 3 June; in Mooste, Estonia, 19-22 July 2020; and in Gotland, Sweden, 27-30 September 2020. Alongside exploring relevant issues, these workshops hope to foster future collaborative projects. Deadline: 14 February 2020.
