Young artists from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are invited to submit their work for the Riga Photography Biennial – NEXT 2023 Award ‘Seeking the Latest in Photography!’. The winner of the award will be chosen by an international jury and will have an opportunity to hold a solo exhibition at the ISSP Gallery within the framework of the Riga Photography Biennial in May 2023.

European artists, or collectives can apply to the EMAP residency programme with a project proposal for a residency of two months within June 2022 to January 2023. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the platform’s host institutions.

State of the Art Network (SOTAN) is a Nordic-Baltic transdisciplinary network of artists, practitioners, researchers, and organisations who have come together to discuss the role, responsibility, and potential of art and culture in the Anthropocene. Partners from the network are offering a number of opportunities in summer 2022.

For a second year the Translation in Motion consortium of translation residencies invites applications by literary translators working from or into the languages of the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia). Residency stays will take place between April 2022 and April 2023.

Balvi Municipality in collaboration with Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre encourages artists to apply for participation in the International Painting Plein Air ‘Valdis Bušs 2022’. The Plein Air will take place 11-22 July 2022 in Viļaka, Latvia.

REMAIIN announces an open call for new musical proposals that deal with or incorporate non-western influences in experimental and new music or that engage with questions of cultural identity in experimental and new music. Works have to be presented within 2022. The emphasis is on live presentation, but online or alternative formats should be possible as a fallback.

The ISSP Riga Residency welcomes applications from photographers, artists and curators interested in exploring the local social and cultural context and connecting to the ISSP platform of activities. In 2022, two selected artists resident in a Nordic or Baltic country will be awarded a Nordic Culture Point scholarship. There is one residency spot available in December 2021, and then places from January to June 2022. Stays are 1-3 months.

PAiR residency invites art, culture and humanities professionals (artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, writers and others) exclusively from or based in Baltic and Nordic states to apply for its second open call. The residency programme runs 1 November – 30 December 2021 and will be dedicated to researching the Latvian town of Pāvilosta’s surroundings and its cultural-natural dynamics.

NDPC - Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture are seeking a Digital and Communications Manager to work closely with the NDPC Secretariat Director and EUNIC/NDPC Project Coordinator and Manager at the organisation’s offices in Riga, Latvia. Starting date is 15 September 2021 or as soon as possible for a two-year contract (with possibility of extension).

The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) is an initiative focusing on the improvement of operating conditions for cultural and creative industries. The activity area covers 11 countries: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. NDPC are offering a full-time position of a Cultural and Creative Industry Project Advisor at the NDPC Secretariat in Riga.

VV Foundation announces the inaugural PAiR residency open call for art, culture and humanities professionals active in various fields and roles – artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, writers and others – from Nordic and Baltic states. The PAiR programme will take place from 30 August – 31 October 2021 and will be dedicated to researching the surroundings and cultural-natural phenomena of the Lavian town of Pāvilosta.
