La Volière is calling for applications from young emerging artists connected to aerial circus and/or aerial dance to apply for a residency in Saint-Nazaire, France. The call for projects aims to support young emerging artists whose projects are in the process of being structured.
La Volière is an artistic and cultural venue based in Saint-Nazaire (France) dedicated to circus practices with a specificity for aerial disciplines such as Aerial Circus and Aerial Dance. La Volière encompasses various aspects: a circus school open to all, an artistic laboratory, a social artistic space for local audience, an international exchange platform and a resource centre dedicated to the development of the circus sector at regional, national, and international levels.
Individuals or a group of up to three people, aged between 18 and 33, can apply for the residency. The teams of the selected projects will be offered free use of the creation space to work on their creative process and/or to finalise their creative project. The duration of the residency must be between one to two weeks maximum, either continuously or in split periods. The residency must take place between either 22 July – 10 August 2024 or 2–9 September 2024.
Projects can be submitted by an artist, a company, a production or distribution office from around the world. Proposals should be small artistic forms and not be technically challenging to be installed.
A fee is provided (from 1,500 EUR to 3,000 EUR, depending on the number of people involved) and accommodation and transport costs are covered.
