FAKI Festival – International Festival of Alternative Theatrical Expression is calling for artists, activists, researchers and theatre critics to participate in its next edition happening in Zagreb, Croatia from 26 May to 1 June 2025.
Caring is a societal issue, not an individual one, with society significantly influencing how care is distributed within it. Yet repressive policies often condemn the act of caring for others. FAKI Festival calls upon all creators to think about care and its place in society, the relationship between care, individualism, and collectivism, the gender conditioning of care, and how art can speak about care. Care inside of a community acts as a seed of resistance to cold capitalism.
The FAKI Festival will pay all reasonable costs for the presentation of accepted works:
- Travel costs up to 200 EUR for individuals and up to 500 EUR for groups, with preference given to sustainable means of transport (bus, train, shared car)
- Subsistence – shared accommodation on-site at AKC Medika and healthy vegan lunches during the festival
- Basic technical support (light, sound, and other wonders)
- Photo and video documentation of the performances
- Public relations and media presence via the festival network
- Rehearsal space/residency (if needed)
- Dramaturgy support and/or feedback (if needed)
