Text in Spanish to promote the call.

A Casa Vella is calling for applications from artists based in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal and Uruguay to apply for a residency, to take place in Galicia, Spain, between 1 June to 31 November 2024 for a maximum of seven days.

The residencies will be for research and creation by individual artists or teams (up to two people) who are emerging or mid-career artists and who base their artistic work around movement and the body. The selected artists will have access to the following spaces: a rehearsal room, residential space (accommodation), Biosphere Reserve natural spaces, spaces in the City Council’s educational centres (nursery school, primary school and IES) and Fogar dos Maiores.

A Casa Vella project is conceived as a space for artistic creation and social action in rural areas, for artistic research and training, the creative and healthy use of the body, respect for the natural environment and the enhancement of its endogenous resources and intangible cultural heritage. A Casa Vella project is a space for connection, relationship building and meeting, favouring reflection and dialogue.

A Casa Vella is opening its activity to the Ibero-American community through an international call to promote in-person relations between artistic communities. The proposed project’s relationship with local communities is highly valued. At the end of the residency the artist will carry out an open session with the local and artistic community of Galicia (meeting, exhibition, colloquium, or other format).

A Casa Vella provides international and local travel, accommodation and meals, as well as the necessary personnel for the artistic accompaniment of the process.
