BUZZ Network: Youth Theatre Artists Training Lab (Germany)

A group of young people stalk and stride through a neon lit space with a Laser Quest / Crystal Maze aesthetic.

The BUZZ Network, an EU project aiming at cross-pollinating youth theatre practice, is calling for professional directors and artists who create performance work with young people to participate in an Artists Training Lab at Theater Bremen in Bremen, Germany from 14-19 October 2022.

Titled ‘Form and Aesthetics of Co-creative Work with Young People’, this funded five-day programme will offer professional youth theatre artists the chance to explore what makes an outstanding performance. Asking:

  • What themes and aesthetic impulses do we see reflected?
  • What are we missing?
  • What do we need more of to ensure that we are continuing to evolve and challenge ourselves and our practice?

Working alongside a number of German artists who are known for their extraordinary aesthetic style, the participants will take part in workshops and also be invited to see and discuss several performances at Theater Bremen and meet the creative teams.

Your travel to Bremen, accommodation, and all meals during the lab will be provided.

Up to 17 artists from across Europe will be selected for this training opportunity: 2 artists from each of Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, and Norway; 4 artists from Germany; 5 artists applying from elsewhere in Europe.
