transmediale 2027 invites applications for the Lattice Labs, a series of experimental working groups dedicated to rethinking and testing alternatives to technological monocultures of extraction and surveillance, from July 2026 to January 2027. Each Lab is formed by about five participants and guided by an experienced artist or technologist. The call is open for early career and emerging artists, researchers, curators, students, and practitioners from all disciplines.

The process unfolds in three phases:

  • a first phase of collective inquiry and vocabulary-building through bi-weekly online sessions led by the Lab steward;
  • a second phase of collective production, in which participants develop a project supported by a dedicated production budget; and
  • a third phase during the festival itself, where each Lab presents and activates their project through workshops, open sessions, and discursive formats.

Participation requires attending all meetings, committing to the collective project development, and travelling to Berlin for the festival (26–31 January 2027). transmediale covers travel and accommodation for the festival period, prioritising train travel where possible, and supports visa applications with letters of invitation.
