South Specific Festival announces an open call for international co-productions of new site-specific and immersive projects in the field of live arts and audiovisual creation.
South Specific is a theatre festival that focuses on immersive and site-specific projects, connecting forms of live art with unusual locations in the South Bohemian region in the Czech Republic.
For its second edition, which will take place in 2028, the festival is announcing an open call for new immersive and/or site-specific projects by foreign teams (outside the Czech Republic) or international co-production teams (from around the world, or from the Czech Republic in co-production with at least one foreign partner).
The festival is part of the České Budějovice – European Capital of Culture 2028 programme.
The call is open to professional artistic teams or individuals, including recent graduates of art schools, who create works in the fields of theatre, dance, music, new circus, performing arts, audiovisual art, visual installations, happenings, new technologies, or performance art.
The project can be implemented anywhere in the South Bohemian Region. The festival centre will be in České Budějovice. The project will be included in the festival programme between May and September 2028.
The festival will provide selected projects with a co-production grant from 100,000 CZK (≈ 4,000 EUR) to 1,000,000 CZK (≈ 40,000 EUR).
