IN SITU: Online Support and Immersive Lab for Emerging Artists Creating in Public Space (3rd Call)

IN SITU is now calling for applications from emerging artists creating in public space for their third open call. Around 60 European artists will have access to online content to learn about artistic production related to art in public space from March to June 2027 and an in-person immersive lab with learning and networking opportunities (May to September 2027).

Online content includes:

  • Three online support sessions with On the Move
  • Two to six peer-to-peer exchange sessions with experienced IN SITU artists
  • Short videos and online webinars to learn from IN SITU programmers and artists

An immersive lab is an artistic seminar designed for IN SITU emerging artists to provide food for thoughts to nourish their artistic projects. These six-day gatherings take place during an event or festival hosted by one of the IN SITU partners and bring together around 15 artists at a time

This open call is for artistic proposals in development. The project should:

  • have not yet premiered or toured;
  • be further progressed than the ideas stage;
  • be intended for presentation in public space or non-conventional venues;
  • have the potential to be presented to an audience around summer 2028.

The costs covered for the participation in the immersive lab include: a writing aid fee of 1,500 EUR including taxes, plus travel up to 300 EUR roundtrip for air travel, meals, and accommodation. Maximum two artists from a collective can attend a lab.

IN SITU will then directly support around 10 of the selected projects with production residencies. The programme will culminate in a FOCUS event in the summer of 2028, taking place in the context of La Strada Graz in Austria.
