KADIST San Francisco: Two Collection Fellowships, Americas and Asia (Remote)

A cosy nook with a sofa, potted plant, some cushions, and a display of leaflets/brochures. No one about.

KADIST is a non-profit organisation dedicated to exhibiting the work of contemporary artists who make an important contribution to a progressive society.

With permanent exhibition spaces in Paris and San Francisco, and offices in Guangzhou and Mexico City, KADIST produces exhibitions and programmes across five continents, through curatorial collaborations, in order to responsibly address the complexity of local cultures. KADIST’s spaces in Paris and San Francisco present exhibitions and events, organise residencies and educational programmes, and produce projects online and on social media. KADIST’s collection of 1600 contemporary artworks serves as a starting point and resource for these programmes.

KADIST San Francisco is offering two six-month collection fellowships to recent or 2022 graduates of art history, museum studies, critical writing, or a related field from college or university programmes (BA or MA). One of the fellowships is co-organised with the Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice at California College of the Arts, San Francisco (CCA), and will be offered to a candidate from the programme. Remote positions with bi-monthly online meetings are negotiable.

KADIST’s fellowships provide a stipend and an opportunity to develop professional skills in collection research and management. Working closely with the organisation’s staff, the fellows become vital team members in a broad international network and participate in the development of KADIST’s art collection and online art library. During the first three months of their fellowship, each fellow will research and generate original pieces of writing about photographs and video artworks by selected collection artists living and working in the Americas (first fellowship) or Asia (second fellowship). During the last three months, they will facilitate the collection’s development and management (e.g. preparing materials for the committee’s review, updating inventory, maintaining editorial content, etc.).

Each fellowship requires a six-month commitment, an average of eight hours a week. Each fellow will receive a stipend of USD 5000 for the duration of the fellowship. Remote positions with periodic online meetings are negotiable. The fellowship period will begin the week of 7 or 14 February 2022.
One fellowship will focus on researching artists working and living in the Americas while the other will focus on artists working and living in Asia.
