BIRCA - Bækkelund International Residency Center for Artists is a work space for artists and artistic development placed in rural and inspiring surroundings on the Danish island Bornholm.
In 2024, BIRCA is running a number of residency programmes including:
- BIRCA Women: held this year 29 April - 12 May 2024 with Nana-Francisca Schotländer as facilitator. The call is open to all performing artists from all over the world who identify as female. The residency seeks to expand your current practice with a focus on the health of the planet. Accommodation and food expenses will be covered and BIRCA will reimburse up to 300€/2200DK in travel expenses and pay a fee of 1340€/10000DK.
- BIRCA Baltic Sea: held 13-26 May 2024 with Tora Balslev as facilitator. The call is open to performing artists based in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The residency is part of BIRCA’s laboratory for the new ecological performing arts platform. Accommodation in single rooms, food and travel expenses (also for green traveling) will be covered and BIRCA will pay a fee of 1500€ per participant.
BIRCA is also part of the Island Connect project open call.
