    The music and city festival Station Narva, scheduled to take place on 5-7 August 2021, has launched an open call for an urban art competition in collaboration with the Narva Museum Art Gallery and the Narva Art Residency (NART). Sculptures, installations, urban furniture, street art, outdoor exhibitions or other objects that enrich the public space and are defined by a specific location in Narva are welcome to enter the competition.

    Urban Festival UIT in Tartu, Estonia is inviting proposals for installations on the theme of ‘Parasitic Architecture’. Applicants will propose installation 'urban parasites' that use already existing structures as their base. The open call is mainly addressed to students of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, installation, and sculpture, but all others interested in public space are more than welcome to participate.

  • News / Kai Art Center: Residency for Nordic and Baltic Curators and Writers (Estonia)

    Kai Art Center’s core programme, the Kai Residency, invites curators and writers from Nordic and Baltic states to apply for its 2021 residency programme. The residency provides the opportunity for selected participants to live and work in Tallinn for two to four weeks while being immersed in the city’s dynamic art scene. The residency will take place between June and December 2021.

    Tallinn Art Hall, Tirana Art Lab – Center for Contemporary Art, and the ZKM I Centre for Art and Media are jointly calling for European art practitioners / theoreticians to apply for one of the three production residencies taking place in Karlsruhe, Tallinn, and Tirana from 1 September – 31 October 2021 and from 1 May – 30 June 2022. The organisers invite applications not only from those working in the field of virtual media but also artists and theoreticians with various artistic and theoretical practices and outcomes.

    Tallinn Art Hall is launching a new artist in residence programme for professional artists living in Germany in partnership with Goethe-Institut Estland. It offers a studio apartment in central Tallinn for 2 months, from 1 August – 30 September 2021. The aim of the programme is to spur artistic research and discourse in Tallinn on the topics of ecological awareness, environmental sustainability and the ethics of making art.

    (Re)configuring Territories is an interdisciplinary research programme for architects, artists, designers and writers. In 2020, the programme focuses on feminist spatial practices and environmental decay as a deconstructive process in the context of the Baltic Sea region. As part of this, a six-week residency is being organised for practitioners and researchers who share an interest in situated practices and speculative approaches. Dates to be confirmed.     The Female Filmmaker Network aims to bring together female filmmakers – directors, producers, cinematographers, sound recordists, editors and others – from Estonia, Latvia and Sweden. The Network has launched an open call for filmmakers from these three countries to attend three workshops: in Cesis, Latvia, 31 May - 3 June; in Mooste, Estonia, 19-22 July 2020; and in Gotland, Sweden, 27-30 September 2020. Alongside exploring relevant issues, these workshops hope to foster future collaborative projects. Deadline: 14 February 2020.
