Wintertuin Curaçao is welcoming applications from international literary professionals from across the Creative Europe network for a 22-day residency in Curaçao, from 1 to 23 September 2026.
The residency brings together four literary professionals from across the Creative Europe network to explore Curaçao’s unique multilingual and multicultural landscape. Through artistic research, creative exchange, and experimentation, residents will investigate how language moves, transforms, and creates new possibilities for storytelling.
Curaçao is a place where cultures, histories, and languages continuously intersect. Papiamentu, Dutch, English, and Spanish coexist in everyday life, creating a rich environment for literary exploration. Residents will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this dynamic context while developing their own artistic practice.
The residency emphasises process over product. Rather than focusing on completed works, participants are encouraged to experiment, research, reflect, collaborate, and develop new ideas. The programme concludes with work-in-progress presentations during the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival on 19 September 2026.
Selected residents will receive:
- Accommodation in Willemstad, Curaçao;
- A daily allowance of 30 EUR per day;
- A travel allowance of 400 EUR–800 EUR, depending on travel distance;
- Additional support where applicable, including top-ups for green travel, visas, families, accessibility needs, and eligible OCT/OR residents;
- Workspace, artistic mentorship, and curatorial support;
- Access to local literary and cultural networks;
- Opportunities to present work-in-progress during the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival.
