The residency programme at Tanzhaus Zürich provides artists with time and space in an inspiring environment. It also creates encounters with the Tanzhaus team and the local community.
Tanzhaus Zürich is a hospitable institution for contemporary choreographic creation in Zurich, Switzerland. The 12-day research and development residencies (from January to mid-July 2026) are awarded to artists:
- who are at home in one of Zurich’s communities and would like to collaborate with Tanzhaus for the first time,
- who have already collaborated with us (co-production/accomplice, Show-Off, associated festival)
- who are proposed by the Tanzhaus accomplices
- national and international artists who are in an established stage of their career.
Priority is given to artists whose work is fueled by a personal, social, and/or aesthetic urgency, and who incorporate a vision of sustainability into their practice.
Local artists will receive a flat rate of 600 CHF per person for a maximum of two persons. National and international artists receive per diems (50 CHF per day) for a maximum of two persons. In addition, the organisers will cover travel costs within Europe (max. 250 CHF per person; for the sake of the climate, they only pay for train journeys) as well as the overnight stays in their residency apartment.
