The Haas and Steidinger Craft & Design Residency invites five artists or cultural professionals to St. Georgen in the heart of Black Forest for five months between 1 October 2023 – 29 February 2024.
The residency follows a mission of monument preservation, focusing on outstanding architectural and historical monuments linked to different dynasties of St. Georgen: Klosterbergfabrik and Klostereck.
Applications are open to artists or cultural professionals over 18 years old, active and experienced in craft and design, applied to cultural heritage, architecture, scenography and legally residing in one of the 40 Creative Europe countries (except for Germany).
At the residency, participants must choose an individual traditional craft topic as well as a future-oriented or circular economical contemporary craft topic and apply design disciplines, scenography, craft and architecture to the combination.
The residency is funded under Culture Moves Europe and provides a €350 (up to 5000km) or €700 (5000km+) mobility grant, with extra top-up funding for green travel over longer distances, travel to or from overseas countries and territories or outermost regions, visa expenses, artists with children below the age of 10, or disabled artists needing access support.
