Mittelfest was born in 1991, in a time of renewed dialogue between East and West in the framework of the Pentagonale initiative, which then included the governments of Italy, Austria, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Hungary, and over the years has extended to 19 Central and Eastern Europe countries, thus giving life to the Central European Initiative.
Today, with theatre, music and dance, Mittelfest promotes dialogue between 25 European countries. The next edition will run 24-27 June 2021 and be entirely dedicated to theatre, music and dance performances by Italian, Central European and Balkan artists aged under 30. Some performances will then be selected to be rescheduled during Mittelfest 2021 Eredi (heirs/heiresses) from 27 August - 5 September 2021.
The call is open to:
- Ensembles or companies of artists under the age of 30.
- Individual artists under the age of 30.
Ensembles/companies may count up to a maximum of 6 members and must be based in one of the following countries:
Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Hungary.
All members of the artistic staff must be aged between 18 and 30 at the time of submitting the application. Any technical staff are not subject to age limits. Individual under-30 artists must be nationals of or permanent residents in one of the above- mentioned countries.
The projects submitted must be in line with the theme of ‘Eredi’ (heirs/heiresses) for Mittelfest 2021 edition.
Given the current epidemiological situation, it is advisable to plan in advance to also have a digital format for the project.
Associazione Mittelfest offers each selected project (stage 1) funding up to EUR 4000, which will be calculated on the basis of the number of people involved and the type of performance.
