Earthwise Residency: Curious Encounters Residencies (Denmark)

Earthwise Residency in Mols Bjerge, Denmark have announced an open call for two Curious Encounters residencies with a focus on the ‘more-than-human’ world – meaning all the other entities, species, or matter whom we share the planet with.

  • Winter 2023: 6 weeks during 9 January – 19 February 2023.
  • Spring 2023: 6 weeks during 17 April – 28 May 2023.

Each residency period is for two collaborating persons: one artist and one researcher or specialist. The researcher/specialist should be actively engaged in research processes and hold at least a master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D. degree. The researcher/specialist may have a background in the Humanities, Social Sciences or STS. The artist must pursue the residency theme of ‘more-than-human’ through primarily visual or performing arts.

The residencies are located in Denmark, at Earthwise Residency, which lies at the heart of National Park - Mols Bjerge.

The residency provides:

  • Working space (writing tables, as well as a small studio space, and lots of outdoor space).
  • Accommodation in private rooms in a house shared with Earthwise volunteers.
  • Space for partners/children can be negotiated
  • Access to a rich library with relevant titles.
  • Access to the other facilities of Earthwise.
  • Dialogue and conversations with Earthwise’s host, and possibly other respondents.
  • A stipend of 1800 EUR for each of the two persons.
  • A small budget for materials.
