CreArt logo - name in red and grey with the tagline 'Network of Cities for Artistic Creation'.

The Portuguese city of Aveiro invites applications from ceramic artists from the CreArt Network to work for one month in the Aveiro AiR programme, 30 October – 30 November 2021.

During the residency two selected artists will benefit from a diverse cultural programme, which will aim to widen their knowledge of technology and style in ceramic production in collaboration with professional partners. The artists will have some days for a cultural programme and project development and other days for the realisation of their projects. The projects might focus on object production, design, ceramic painting, installation, tile or pottery design and experimentation. It is desirable that the artists relate their projects with elements of local identity.

This residency opportunity is open to local artists – born or resident – in any of the cities taking part in the CreArt Network of Cities for Artistic Creation: Aveiro (Portugal), Valladolid (Spain), Clermont-Ferrand and Rouen (France), Genoa (artists should be under 35) and Lecce (Italy), Liverpool (UK), Lublin and Katowice (Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania), Skopje (Macedonia), and Zagreb (Croatia).

The organisers will cover travel expenses to Aveiro up to 500 € for the artists coming from CreArt Cities. They will also cover material costs and pay a grant of 500€ for subsistence, production costs and other expenses. Artists must have a European health card or equivalent, as well as an EU Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate. Studio and accommodation will be provided in Aveiro’s city centre and artists will work at Design Factory Aveiro.
