    News / UNESCO / European Union: Transcultura Opportunity for Caribbean Musicians and Music Professionals (Portugal)

    Transcultura, a Programme funded by the European Union, will support three selected music projects (either individuals, duets or bands) to attend the next edition of WOMEX, to be held in the city of Porto, Portugal from 26-31 October 2021. Applicants must be from the 17 Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) and the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

    News / POLDRA – Public Sculpture Project Viseu: Open Call for a Site-Specific Public Artwork (Portugal)

    POLDRA – Public Sculpture Project Viseu promotes site-specific contemporary public art / art in public space. This open call (with a focus on sculpture) seeks proposals for works designed specifically for the Mata do Fontelo (Viseu, Portugal) and reflecting on the subject of art in public space. POLDRA’s 2021 edition will be inaugurated in October 2021 and the selected proposals must be installed and on site up to 5 days before the inauguration date (to be determined).

    As a member of the international collaboration A-Place, LOOP (a platform dedicated to the study and promotion of the moving image) will commission a video production to investigate the process of creating a sense of place in one of the six cities participating in the project (Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Lisbon, Ljubljana and Nicosia). Multidisciplinary artists who are legal residents in the European Union can apply.

    Medinea (MEDiterranean INcubator of Emerging Artists) supports the professional integration of young Mediterranean musicians. It is now inviting applications for four training sessions in Lisbon (Portugal), Sidi Bou Said (Tunisia), Aix-en-Provence (France), and Nuoro (Italy) to explore intercultural and improvised music with the help of the jazzman and composer Fabrizio Cassol.     The Endangered Landscapes Artist Residencies and Arts Prize will select eight artists, or collectives, to be in residence in eight endangered landscapes: Cairngorms Connect (Scotland, UK), Carpathian Mountains (Romania), Danube Delta, Gökova Bay to Cape Gelidonya (Turkey), Greater Côa Valley (Portugal), Iori River Valley (Georgia), Polesia (Belarus & Ukraine), Summit to Sea (Wales, UK). Applicants should have a demonstrable link to one of the countries of their chosen landscape and ideally a link to the landscape itself.

    Slash is a European learning programme dedicated to nine emerging professional songwriters-producers from EU countries, who wish to step up their career. Activities run from January to June 2021.
