Call for Projects for INACT Festival of Mutant Arts (France)

INACT festival is a meeting around performance, organised in Strasbourg since 2011. The next edition of this multidisciplinary event will take place from April-June 2023, with several evening and daytime events. Artists from all disciplines: musicians, visual artists, actors, dancers, poets are invited to enable projects related to performance in line with this year’s theme: ‘Dissensus’.

In 2023, INACT Festival of Mutant Arts calls for the democratic debate and its springs to emerge as an art subject. Community, national unity, natives, migrants, collectives, individuals, dominant and dominated are the protagonists of cleavage animating a public debate necessary to freedom of expression and the political and social balance. Beyond partisan positions, INACT Festival invites artists to explore the figure of the undesirable, the situation of disagreement, the relationships of antagonism and adhesion, of exclusion and inclusion through performance art and the creation of situations.

Fields of interest: real time art, performance studies, sound art, video performance, poetry, re-enactment, improvisation, dance, culinary art, sound poetry, environmental and documentary work, cross-media art, statements, urban intervention, augmented and virtual reality, virtual performances.

Festival dates: 28-30 April 2023. The festival will take place in different venues in Strasbourg, in indoor and outdoor spaces.

Terms of the festival:

  • 200€ artist fee.
  • Travel expenses refunded.
  • Accommodation.
  • Catering during the day of the performance.
  • Video or photo recording of the artwork.

INACT also invite artists to propose interventions and workshops suitable for any kind of audience who would like to practice performance art for the first time. This activity could lead to a performance or an exhibition during the festival. Workshops are paid 50€ per hour for a maximum of 6h, with 70€ budget for materials.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Maximum 20 min length or duration (in case the performance doesn’t need continuous attention from the audience).
  • Technical specifications including: scenography, performance area perimeter, sound, necessary lighting arrangements.
  • Artists must be able to issue an invoice.
