ArtEO: Earth Stories Call for Projects Using Environmental Data 2026 (Online)

Text of the call on dark coloured fog-type pattern.

ArtEO is calling on artists to transform Earth Observation and other environmental data into innovative, multisensory art.

From January to April 2026, ArtEO will collaborate with artists to create public-facing projects that use environmental insights and Earth Observation data in unexpected ways – through sculpture, music, animation and any other artistic medium. The goal is to produce multisensory projects that go beyond data visualisation conventions, helping audiences to gain fresh insight, and to connect with the emotional and human stories that lie beneath the data.

The project welcomes artists from any discipline to apply – visual artists, musicians, choreographers, digital artists, and beyond. Applicantsdon’t need a background in science or data to apply.

ArtEO is committed to fostering a diverse cohort. They strongly encourage and welcome applications from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, including those historically underrepresented in the arts and science.

The programme provides the following:

  • Funding: Up to 4,000 EUR per artist to produce an original new artwork.
  • Exhibition: The opportunity to participate in a 2026 exhibition.
  • Access: To scientists, EO data, and research networks.
  • Mentorship: Technical, conceptual, and scientific guidance.
  • Learning: Sessions and resources on climate science and EO data.
  • Collaboration: Co-creative experimentation with ArtEO, other artists and scientists.
  • Exposure: Promotion via the website, social media, and video content.
