Every year, the Institut français gives prize winners from all over the world the opportunity to develop a research and creative project in all artistic disciplines at the Cité internationale des arts. Selected applicants will undertake their residency between April 2027 and April 2028.
The scheme is aimed at artists and cultural professionals living abroad, and awards residencies of three, six or nine months.
Artists are nominated by one or more cultural partners (French cultural network abroad, French or foreign cultural organisations) who support them by submitting their application.
The selection process is open to artists and cultural professionals, without age limit, from all countries, in the following disciplines:
- Architecture, landscape, urban planning
- Street art, circus, puppetry
- Plastic art
- Comics
- Cinema (animation, fiction, creative documentary, video art)
- Digital creation (digital art, video games, VR)
- Art criticism and curating
- Dance, performance
- Design, graphic design
- Gastronomy
- Literature (fiction, essays, children’s literature, comics)
- Art professions
- Fashion
- Music (classical and contemporary music, contemporary music and jazz)
- Photography
- Theatre
Support
- Accomodation and studio
- A residency stipend (of at least 1,100 EUR per month);
- The artist’s international travel;
- The artist’s insurance (health, repatriation, liability);
- Visa fees, if necessary.
