Mophradat has partnered with Nyege Nyege Villa in Kampala to provide a residency for a composer/s (with up to two collaborators) or a band comprised of maximum three musicians from the Arab world to spend focused time working on a specific project, creating new compositions, or exploring and researching new ideas. The residency will take place over ten days in April-May 2022.

Mophradat is partnering with Kunstencentrum BUDA in Belgium to offer two residency opportunities to performing artists from the Arab world. The first is a one-week residency (27 June – 2 July 2022) in BUDA for artists in a research phase to continue developing their project. The second is a three-week residency (October/November 2022) for artists in the last phase of their project to use BUDA’s facilities to finalise their piece, which will be presented at NEXT festival.

Flanders Arts Institute is calling for proposals for projects that can improve diversity in the arts field in Flanders and Brussels. Artistic projects are not supported, but otherwise a wide range of initiatives from tools to knowledge networks can be proposed, and by applicants around the world.

Pro Helvetia Cairo invites art and cultural organisations, collectives, spaces and festivals active in the Arab region to collaborate on developing new projects with Swiss counterparts and artists, in all art disciplines (except cinema).

Warehouse421 is a creative centre located in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and is dedicated to emerging creative practitioners and those who want to access art and harness it as an agent for inquiry, education, and growth. The organisation has opened a number of open calls for the MENASA region across its various programmes.

Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium (TISS) will consist of 20 sculptors from around the world coming together to produce a series of permanent public sculptures. The 22-day Symposium (10 November – 2 December 2021) is a platform for international and Saudi artists to create public sculptures in a live setting. Applications are open to stone sculptors of all nationalities with at least 5 years of experience exhibiting works permanently or temporarily in outdoor spaces or galleries.

Are there any issues around international work that concern you? Do you have ideas on how to make it more sustainable, and do you feel like working out some of them with a group of people sharing the same concern over a period of maximum one year? This call is open to artists and arts professionals in Flanders, Belgium or elsewhere in the world. Seven applicants will be selected to form a working group, first coming together in April 2021, to generate new ideas for sustainable international work.

Mophradat is opening up its venue in Athens as a summer retreat (14 June – 15 July 2021) for artists and their families to live together, where artists can work and children can play in an experiment of communal living. Applicants must be from or have origins in the Arab world, be residing in Europe, and be at present a primary (co-)caregiver and planning to travel with no more than two children under the age of five who will join them in residence.

Shararat Amal (‘Glimmer of Hope’) is a fund dedicated solely to individuals and organisations/collectives in exile / refugees in Lebanon. It intends to reactivate the professional activities of the applicants by either providing them with a support allowance, or a grant covering their professional needs.

The Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi has opened applications for its Performing Arts Production programme. Proposed projects should be original concepts and, in light of the pandemic, can experiment with new forms of performance outside the closed space format. Applicants should be based in the United Arab Emirates or the Arab region, or be from the diaspora. Supported creations will need to be delivered by autumn 2021.

Launching its first cycle in 2020, Mouatheqat is a nine-month fellowship incubator (January-September 2021) for female professionals to get hands-on experience and exchange the necessary skills to write, research, direct, produce and edit a documentary film. Activities take place in Germany and Tunisia. Fellows of the following countries and their international diasporas are eligible: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania, Sudan, Tunisia.

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival (LAAF) is inviting proposals for their 2021 festival, which will be held 16-25 July 2021. LAAF welcome proposals from artists from or based in the MENA region, or artists across the globe with MENA or Arab heritage, that respond directly to, or are influenced by, issues related to climate change. Outputs can include: live performances, events, artworks, exhibitions, workshops, public realm works, talks, panel discussions, young people’s activities, or digital activities.
