    The landscape design festival MAGENTA will take place in Kaunas, Lithuania, 9-25 September 2022. MAGENTA aims at actualising landscape design and environmental art, enhancing the role of green spaces in shaping our urban environment while promoting interdisciplinary public art. Project proposals are sought for the 2022 edition of the festival, which is dedicated to tactical urbanism.

  • News / Kaunas 2022: Artistic Residencies Kaunas Tel-Aviv (Lithuania / Israel)

    Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022 (Lithuania) in cooperation with Liebling Haus – The White City Center (Tel Aviv) has announced an open call for artistic residencies in modernist cities. The organisers are looking for multidisciplinary artists whose projects would be based on locally conducted artistic research (for at least 7 days between 1 May - 30 July 2021), leading to a site-specific interpretation of the cultural heritage in Kaunas and Tel Aviv.

    Kaunas Photography Gallery's residency programme invites applications from photographers and artists, curators, critics and art historians who work with photography. Residencies usually last from 4 to 9 weeks and are held within the period 1 March–20 December. Applicants can be of any nationality but must be based in Nordic–Baltic countries other than Lithuania (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland, Latvia and Estonia).

    As part of the Creative Europe project ‘Modernism for the Future 360/365’, artist-researchers of any discipline from Lithuania, Czech Republic, Belgium or Ukraine can apply for site-specific residencies at a number of modernist buildings. The developed projects will be presented during a final exhibition in Kaunas for its inauguration as European Capital of Culture in 2022.

  • News / ConTempo > Open Call for Performances in Open-air Urban Spaces

    The international performing arts festival ConTempo will take place in Kaunas, Lithuania on 21-23 August 2020. The organisers are looking for artists and collectives from Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Lithuania with teams of up to five people. They want performances – contemporary dance, theatre, cross-disciplinary pieces which can take place outdoors – for open-air urban spaces, on the water or near the water. Performances should be easily adaptable for different locations and comply with all social-distancing regulations. Deadline: 15 June 2020.
