Tele-Encounters is an artistic research project aiming to explore family relationships within the context of migration and to contribute to the development of telepresence (technologically mediated presence) as an artistic idiom. Based on interviews with Romanian migrants in Spain and Portugal, Spanish migrants in Portugal and Portuguese migrants in Spain, as well as their left behind families, the project will create one theatre show and one 360˚ short film exhibition.
The organisers are currently looking for early-career 3D modelling and animation artists under the age of 30 to join the project. Selected artists will participate in two activities:
The delivery of two participatory audience workshops to create robot models (concept only). Preparation and delivery will take place February-April 2021, online and in Buzău (Romania), Murcia (Spain) or Vimodrone (Italy).
The creation and animation of two 3D robot models based on the concepts that the audience imagined in the workshops. Users worldwide will be able to access a platform online and interact with the robot models via A.I. chatbots. You will first attend a training workshop in Murcia, Spain to get more insight into the technical specificities of the project and to decide on the structure of the platform, then you will work remotely. This activity will take place May-September 2021.
There is an honorarium for each activity, with accommodation and travel expenses covered separately in full.
Applicants should be based in Romania, Spain, or Italy, have good knowledge of 3D modeling and animation software (preferably including, but not restricted to Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max), at least one year of professional experience, and good knowledge of English.
