Taipei Performing Arts Center: ADAM Artist Lab 2026 (Taiwan, Philippines)

Title of the call on a white background.

Co-curated and facilitated by artists Ness Roque (the Philippines) and Ming-Chen Lee (Taiwan), the 2026 ADAM (Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance) Artist Lab will take place in Manila and Taipei.

Entitled ‘Laundry Days’, the programme invites artists to reimagine ways of connecting with things, people, and social landscapes in the context of arts not merely as the creation of something new, but also as sorting, inspecting, soaking, washing, removing dirt, drying, hanging, and folding. Perhaps one brings their laundry to a river where people gather, or to a self-service laundry to watch clothes spin and observe other baskets.

This Lab proposes how collective process could transform temporary residency and gathering, and what ‘Laundry’ as an attitude or methodology would feel like. The lab is an invitation for artists to be fully present with one another––seeing, listening, feeling, and doing laundry together––while they get to know Manila, Taipei, and beyond.

Applicants understand that this Lab is not designed for developing an existing project of an artist but to invent new ideas and potentially new projects through encounters, exchange, dialogues, and collective research

The project will be divided into two phases in Manila (18–29 August 2026) and in Taipei (5–18 October 2026). Selected artists must participate in both phases as a whole project. A small public sharing event will be held at the end of the Manila residency; the artists will then continue the exploration and findings in Taipei. At the end of Taipei residency, a final public sharing will be presented as part of the ADAM Gathering.
