Taepyung Salt Farm: Art Like Salt 2025 Residency (South Korea)

Taepyung Salt Farm and Boggle Mansion seeks artists to submit entries for the juried exhibition, ‘Art Like Salt.’ The winners will be chosen to participate in a residency programme in Shinan, designated a ‘Slow City’, in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, with the opportunity to create work in any of the following formats; painting, drawing, photography, video, installation, sculpture, or sound with the theme of ‘Rising and Receding’.

This open call asks how art operates at varying distances from society, daily life, emotion, memory, and technology.

The Winner(s) of the Year (an individual or group) will have the opportunity to participate in a residency programme for 12 weeks between September and November 2025, or between March and May 2026, in Jeungdo, Shinan, South Jeolla Province, South Korea. (Residency period is adjustable upon mutual agreement.)

The artworks of the winner(s) will be exhibited at the Salt Museum near the residence.

The winner(s) will be rewarded 5,000,000 KRW (before tax) as an artist fee, and 1,200,000 KRW (before tax) for supplies cost, along with 1,500,000 KRW (before tax) for living expenses. Travel expenses will also be supported for international participants: up to 1,200,000 KRW for those traveling from Europe, the Americas, or Africa, and up to 800,000 KRW for those from Asia (before tax, the proof of airfare is required).
