SODAS 2123 cultural centre is a self-governing community-based space, operated and curated by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. It brings together creators and researchers from different fields, with practices based on experimentation, developing unexpected formats, and responding to the latest cultural, social, geopolitical and ecological issues.
SODAS 2123 invites sound artists to a funded two-month-long artist residency programme in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The SODAS 2123 residency programme seeks artists who use field recordings, autotuned, sung or spoken words, mixed sounds, installations or other sonic interpretations to react to the latest (geo)political, ecological and social issues. They are interested in manifestations of sounds that raise important questions and construct visions of social, cultural and spatial futures. The programme is open to various sound art formats. Artists with various backgrounds are welcome to apply.
By giving the residency program participants curatorial support, consulting residents about their artistic projects and research, organising studio visits to local artists’ studios, project spaces, exhibitions spaces and other residency centres, the SODAS 2123 residency programme aims to build long-term relations between visiting artists and the local art scene.
Residency dates:
- From 1 December 2022 - 31 January 2023.
- From 1 April - 31 May 2023.
The residency grant is 1600 EUR per artist (tax inclusive) and accommodation is provided. Three artists will be selected and invited to live and develop their residency projects in SODAS 2123.
Only artists from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland) are eligible to apply.
