Praksis: Opening Doors Nordic/Baltic Artist Residency 2026 (Norway)

Text of the call on abstract brick patterns.

PRAKSIS invites applications from two artists or cultural practitioners based in Nordic/Baltic countries outside Norway for a three-month residency (16 September – 16 December 2026) in Oslo exploring access, language, learning and institutional change.

The residency overlaps with PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board’s activities and its Opening Doors project: a youth-led exploration of ways that cultural institutions might communicate with, welcome and involve young people. Residents will have time to develop their own artistic or research practice while engaging in dialogue with young people, institutions and transnational peers. In October, they will also be invited to contribute to the Nordic Youth Conference in Oslo, developed with Index in Stockholm and PUBLICS in Helsinki.

Applications are welcome from individuals with an interest in this theme, who work in any of the following fields: visual art, film, writing, performance, sound, design, architecture, socially engaged practice, education, publishing, curating, artistic research or interdisciplinary forms. Applicants do not need to have worked directly with young people before, but they should have a genuine interest in exchange, access, learning, communication or public engagement.

Each selected resident will receive accommodation in Oslo, shared studio space at PRAKSIS, a residency stipend of 1,600 EUR per month for three months, travel support of 350 EUR and a production/materials allowance of 400 EUR.

The residency forms part of PRAKSIS’s 10-year anniversary programme and is funded by the Nordic Culture Fund. Opening Doors is co-funded by the European Union via the Erasmus+ Youth programme.
