Lakescape: 2025 Residency for Designers and Artisans (Sweden, Hungary, North Macedonia)

Lakescape is a one-year Creative Europe project, collaboratively implemented by partners from Sweden, Hungary and North Macedonia, representing Great Europen Lakes: Vänern, Balaton and Ohrid. It tests creativity-based methods to contribute to the regeneration of lakeshore ecosystems and communities in rural regions, exploring art and culture’s role in promoting healthy lake ecosystems and communities across Europe.

Lakescape will offer fully paid stipend as well as logistic support to 12 designers and artisans to develop design line that highlights relation between lakes and humans. This includes a five- to seven-day residency in June or July 2025.

Lakescape invites designers and artisans working in a variety of disciplines and materials (traditional craftsmanship but also innovative sustainable industrial design) to submit Design proposals that are envisioned with a friendly and fair connection between human and lake ecosystems.

Designers will do the following:

  • Develop their design line, connected/ related/ inspired or using of lake-life renewable resources
  • Be placed on a short residency in one of the three lake towns: Lidköping, Struga and Barnag
  • Attend Lakescape floating market on the waters of Vänern, and present their market-ready work in Lidköping, Sweden, 15–16 August 2025
  • Be able to sell their work on Lakescape e-shop
  • Be represented on the project catalogue disseminated to potential future customers and creative and cultural audiences across Europe.

Support:

  • Approximately 2,500 EUR honorarium (in total with tax expenses)
  • Approximately 750 EUR for production and material costs
  • Travel, accommodation, and subsidies for short residency placement and for the floating market
