As a local operator of the UNESCO City of Literature, the Gdańsk House of Literature has announced its first interdisciplinary residency programme, dedicated to writers and visual artists from Poland and abroad.
The Literary Map of Gdańsk Residency Programme, organised by the Gdańsk House of Literature (Dom Literatury w Gdańsku), is open to artists from Poland and abroad who are active in the fields of literature or visual arts. The objective is to create a new set of cards inspired by the life and work of Maria Janion to complement the pilot edition of the Literary Map of Gdańsk, issued in 2025.
The residency stay may take from 2 to 5 weeks (with the possibility of dividing it into two shorter visits), between early April and mid-July 2026. While in Gdańsk, residents will also have an opportunity to participate in networking visits related to the residency and in events organised by the Gdańsk House of Literature.
Both duo applications and solo applications will be accepted, although priority is given to duos.
The residents participating in the programme are entitled to free-of-charge accommodation in a shared residency flat in Gdansk and a gross fee of 1,100 PLN a week, as well as substantive and logistical support.
