The music industry constitutes an important driving force in European culture. Over the last few decades, it has changed significantly, and reached a point where it is rethinking itself. Especially now, it is facing challenges that place its future at risk. The ongoing crisis has unearthed already existing problems in our sector that need to be addressed systematically and holistically.
Footprints is a new collaborative project that aims at reforming the music sector and introducing the values of social, economic and environmental responsibility to its activities. Created on the initiative of Periscope in Lyon and Wytwórnia Foundation in Lodz, Footprints is a direct continuation of the Jazz Connective project which was implemented by 6 European countries in 2018 – 2020.
Footprints will introduce a series of activities aimed at helping all the actors of the music sector to move around the European music market, and at consolidating the European creative music community around the values we currently need more than ever.
Together with 4 experienced European partners – Bimhuis in Amsterdam, Druga Godba in Ljubljana, Music Austria in Vienna and Oslo Jazz Festival – the project plans to provide education, training and mentoring programmes for artists, agents and promoters.
The project is currently calling for applications from music agents living in Poland, Austria, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia or France. Selected agents will take place in Spring Campus workshops and meetings at Periscope in France 12 - 18 April 2021; participate in the INTL Jazz Platform in Lodz 16-22 July 2021; and tour with a Footprints artist and their band (around 10 concerts during the period between June 2021 and April 2022).
Each agent will receive a bursary of 4000€, as well as have accommodation, meals and travel covered for the Spring Campus 2021 and INTL Jazz Platform. Subject to agreement, travel and accommodation will also be covered for the tour.
