Focus International: Cultural Work Trainee Programme for Professionals from Kosovo and South Africa (Austria)

The Cultural Work Trainee Programme of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport at MuseumsQuartier Vienna offers young experts from the cultural field from Kosovo and South Africa the opportunity to complete a two-month internship at one of Austria’s leading cultural institutions.

The programme offers an opportunity for young cultural workers (maximum 40 years old) from Kosovo and South Africa to collect personal work experience at leading art initiatives in Austria. Apart from the internship, which is the central part of the programme, the residents will be provided a personal mentoring and will be supported by the team of MuseumsQuartier.

Artists from Kosovo can apply for one of the following options:

  • MICA–music austria – January-February 2025
  • MuseumsQuartier – March-April 2025
  • Independent Space Index – May-June 2025
  • Vienna Contemporary – July-August 2025
  • Kunsthalle Wien – September-October 2025
  • KÖR Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien / Public Art Vienna – November-December 2025

Artists from South Africa can apply for one option:

  • Tricky Women/TrickyRealities – animated film festival by women and/or genderqueer artists – January-February 2025
  • WienWoche – March-April 2025
  • Secession – May-June 2025
  • ImPulsTanz – July-August 2025
  • ArtSocialSpace Brunnenpassage – September-October 2025
  • ZOOM Children’s Museum Vienna – November-December 2025

Successful applicants receive accommodation, a monthly scholarship of 1,300 EUR (for two months, a total of 2,600 EUR) and reimbursement of travel expenses of 500 EUR (for Kosovo artists) or up to 1,000 EUR (for South African artists).
