ECHANGEUR 22 > Residency Programme

FR / 日本語

ECHANGEUR 22 is a non-profit association that supports emerging contemporary artists working in the visual arts. Since 2015, it has run a residency programme that aims to encourage collaborations among artists from Europe, Brazil, Japan and South Korea.

For its sixth edition, the ECHANGEUR22 residency will take the theme of Mobility, and will bring together one French artist, one Japanese artist, one Brazilian artist, and three South Korean artists living and working in Daejeon. The residency period will be 6-8 weeks, taking place May – July 2020.

The residency will be focused on creation and experimentation, providing artists with the technical means to create and produce new art, conduct original research, and engage with the public through presentations that showcase the various stages of the creative process leading up to a finished work.

Artists will also be asked to question their own work according to the notion of circulation and mobility in art, in anticipation of possible participation in the MOBILITY project developed by E22 in partnership with Daejeon’s Temiorae Cultural Center and Centro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica de Rio de Janeiro to organise residences and traveling exhibitions between Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Daejeon (South Korea) and Tokyo (Japan).

Residents receive:

  • A production budget of 1000 euros for the period of residency (under condition of obtaining subsidy).

  • Accommodation in an artist’s workshop.

  • A travel allowance (reimbursement of actual costs on presentation of invoices).
