British Council: Research Job on Cross-arts Gender Analysis (Online)

The British Council is looking for a supplier to provide a gender analysis of the arts and culture sectors in the following countries:

  • Mexico
  • China
  • The Philippines
  • Poland
  • Bangladesh
  • Pakistan
  • Nepal
  • Kenya
  • Zimbabwe
  • Turkey

This gender analysis is intended to support the British Council’s teams in ensuring that gender dynamics and barriers are considered proactively in programme planning, implementation and evaluation. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a comprehensive gender analysis across the arts and culture landscape of the priority geographies and conduct deep dives into one or two specific art forms in each country. These art forms could be visual arts, literature, theatre and dance, music, film, cultural heritage, architecture, design, or fashion and will be decided at inception stage.

The term for this assignment is February to September 2025 and includes the following deliverables:

  • Analytical framework for the gender analysis suitable for the arts and culture sector.
  • Final gender analysis report consisting of a literature review; stakeholder analysis; coverage of each individual geography; findings; trends and recommendations.
  • Two reports: a long and short version.
  • A PowerPoint slide deck.
  • Advice on engagement activities.

The maximum budget is 92,000 GBP inclusive of VAT and all costs.
