The Structurist Creative Research Fellowship (SCRF), organised by the University of Saskatchewan Art Galleries and Collections in Canada, is open to both Canadian and international applicants at any stage in their career and the project must be completed by September 2026.

Sensorium: Centre for Digital Art and Technology – in partnership with Connected Minds: Neural and Machine Systems for a Healthy, Just Society – seeks applications for the inaugural Connected Minds Artist-in-Residence.

The National Gallery of Canada’s General Idea Fellowship encourages and supports advanced research in contemporary art. Research will relate to any aspect of contemporary art, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, artist’s books and multiples, video, installation and other media, and emphasise the use and investigation of the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, including the Art Metropole Collection, the General Idea fonds, the AA Bronson collection, and related materials in the Gallery’s collections.

The CCA-Mellon Multidisciplinary Research Programme seeks practitioners and researchers working across landscape architecture and allied practices to participate in a multi-day online seminar in November 2023. Some participants will be invited to continue with the research project with in-person meetings and independent research over 18 months.

With the newly established project Dialekt - An exploration of international co-creation in audiovisual artistic expression and performance, three partners across three countries come together in order to present a call-out for artists to travel, develop a project in residency, and perform at each location – at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark, Inkonst in Malmö, Sweden, and Eastern Bloc in Montreal, Canada. Individuals residing in Denmark, Sweden, and in the province of Quebec can apply.

Eastern Edge, Newfoundland and Labrador’s oldest artist-run-centre, is accepting proposals for self-directed residencies for 2024. Residencies will last between 4-8 weeks, depending on the artist’s availability, with periods available through 2024.

European artists, or collectives can apply to the EMAP residency programme with a project proposal for a residency of two months within June 2022 to January 2023. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the platform’s host institutions.

Fogo Island Arts is announcing an open call for an experimental new residency dedicated to research into community economies and alternative economic models. This residency will provide an opportunity for the selected resident(s) to live and work on Fogo Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada for a period of six weeks, up to three months, and will commence in late 2023.

The DePOT Artist in Residence (DePOT AIR) programme supports creative engagements with the historical roots and lived experience of deindustrialization. The organisers are interested in proposals that range across the performing, creative and visual arts, are rooted in deindustrialized areas in Italy, France, Germany, the UK, the US or Canada and that speak to the impact, and legacy, of mine, mill and factory closures. The creative work generated will be showcased in the artist’s home community as well as at the DePOT Project Assembly in June 2023 in Montreal, Canada.

The Labrador Current Foodways residency will provide an opportunity for an artist, curator, writer, farmer, chef, food historian, forager, eater, or researcher to live and work on Fogo Island, Newfoundland, Canada for a period of up to three months.

In 2022 the CCA-WRI fellowship programme is themed ‘Above/Below/Between: Light on a Damaged Planet’, under which it will seek to understand architecture’s varied relationships to the changing material constitution of the light spectrum. Fellows will be offered a residency at the CCA between July and October 2022, for a period of one to three months.

Founded in 1986 in the Outaouais region of Quebec, DAÏMÔN is a resource centre for artists in the region. It also hosts artists from Quebec, the rest of Canada and abroad in production residencies. DAÏMÔN is currently calling for artists for both in-person and virtual residencies.
