CONTESTED DESIRES: Constructive Dialogues (CDCD) is calling for applications from professionals from the cultural field for the CONTESTED DESIRES: Constructive Dialogues Ethics Advisory Group, to take place online and in-person from June 2024 to December 2026.
Supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, CDCD is a three-year arts and heritage programme. It engages contemporary artists in exploring the complex legacy of European colonialism and its impact on modern cultural identities. CDCD operates across the Netherlands, Italy, Ghana, Tunisia, Chile, Hungary, Slovenia, Portugal, Cyprus, Spain, and the UK, connecting museums, research centers, universities, and cultural producers globally. The programme features artistic residencies, exhibitions, and digital commissions to foster intersectional conversations about heritage and decoloniality.
The programme is seeking four International Experts to join the CDCD Ethics Advisory Group. This group will guide the programme through ethical considerations, ensuring equitable and respectful engagement with artists and communities. Key tasks include:
- Participation in six working group meetings (online and in-person).
- Attending capacity building workshops and the final CDCD conference.
- Developing an ethical framework to support artistic research and audience engagement.
Schedule:
- July 2024: Introductory online meeting.
- 25–26 October 2024: Workshop in Rome, Italy.
- 23–24 January 2025: Workshop in Larnaca, Cyprus.
- July 2025: Workshop in Barcelona, Spain.
- January 2026: Workshop in the Netherlands.
- September 2026: Final residency and festival in Cyprus.
The programme seeks professionals from the cultural field, including academics and visual artists, with expertise in the following:
- Socially engaged arts, heritage, and culture
- Colonial and decolonial heritage
- Identity constructs (nationalities, ethnicities, gender, race)
- Environmental and climate justice
- Anti-racism
The experts are offered a fee of 4,500 EUR. CDCD will cover travel, accommodation and subsistence for in person meetings.
