Science&Art Lab is calling for applications from artists for their eight-week residency in autumn 2024. The residency brings together cutting-edge research with art in their various forms of expression and media and inspires a dialogue. The aim is to enable different approaches to research questions and an exchange between science, art, and the public.
Science&Art Lab is open to experiments, transfer thinking, new formats and ideas. The aim is to give space to the dialogue between art and science and to fill this space with life, with talks, exhibitions, screenings and other opportunities for encounters.
Science&Art Lab are realising an international artist in residency programme to connect partners who are interested in same or similar topics from different points of view. Against the background of quantum research, the programme invites artists to apply with their own project.
In 2024 Science&Art Residency will be based at the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers and specifically at the Institute of Semiconductor Technology. For the residency, scientists open their laboratories to the artist and grant access to their studies, working material and technical equipment. In addition, meetings at National Metrology Institute and Leibniz University Hannover, who are part of the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers, can be organised.
The residency includes:
- Artist fee 2,400 EUR (gross) per month, travel costs, accommodation
- Production budget of 3,000 EUR (gross)
- Access to the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers
- Access to new technologies in the laboratories of Quantum Frontiers, i.e. Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics and Laboratory for Emerging Nanometrology LENA
- Contact to the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK Braunschweig)
- Participation in a public event, including the presentation of the artwork
- Visibility through communication activities by TU Braunschweig, Science&Art Lab, and Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers
