As a centre for creation, Tabakalera has an international residency programme to support artists, creators, and cultural agents. This programme aims to support production processes and provide support on both a conceptual and production level with a residency in Donostia/San Sebastián (Spain) from 28 April to 8 June 2025.
With the aim of supporting research, creation, and professionalisation in the field of Art, Science, Technology, and Society in the Basque artistic scene, Tabakalera - International Centre for Contemporary Culture is launching the second edition of this residency programme. This time with the collaboration of Goethe-Institut Madrid and Sónar+D, the digital culture and creative technologies meeting of the Barcelona festival Sónar.
The projects selected in this call will be presented at the Immaterial Festival at the end of the residency, 6 – 7 June 2025 at Tabakalera. In addition, and thanks to the collaboration with Sonar+D, at least one of the selected projects will also be at Sonar+ D, as part of Sonar by Day, 12 – 14 June 2025 in Barcelona.
The call is open to national and international artists who want to explore the field of Art, Science, Technology, and Society. At least one of the artists must be linked to the German context of live in Germany and at least one of the artists must be linked to the Basque context. A total of four artistic projects will be selected.
The programme offers travel and accommodation, medical insurance for those not based in Europe, a per diem of 1,000 EUR per month, a fee of 1,500 EUR, work space, technical assistance, curatorial support, and additional production support of up to 3,000 EUR (in consultation with Tabakalera).
