Solanas Art Experience (SAE) is calling for applications from artists with an intermediate career, based in Latin American countries including Uruguay, to live for one month in SAE, Punta del Este (Uruguay).
Solanas Art Experience is an artistic residency programme oriented to the visual arts, created and directed by Natasha Ygel, located in the Solanas Punta del Este complex (Punta Ballena, Uruguay). The programme annually brings together eight Latin American artists whose work explores the links between art, architecture, nature, technology and design. For a month, the artists develop their research and production projects, coordinating visits to local agents and personalised support emphasising the needs of each project.
SAE aims to encourage artistic production by providing a space for experimentation and inspiration in which selected artists develop their work and research, in a context of intimate connection with nature. The processes and productions of the resident artists are exhibited every January in the SAE warehouse, specially designed for the residency.
There are two residency periods currently open:
- Edition #5: 1 to 28 October 2024
- Edition #6: 4 November to 1 December 2024
The one-month residency offers the following:
- Individual accommodation and studio space within the Solanas complex
- Lunch and dinner
- Transfers from the country of origin to Punta del Este and back
- A fee of 1,000 USD for the resident artist
- The sum of 300 USD for production expenses
There is an optional exhibition of the projects in January 2025 in the SAE space for selected participants in the residency programme. Participation in the exhibition is optional (SAE offers three nights of accommodation for artists but the invitation does not include tickets or food).
