The Sub-Saharan Africa, Connect & Create Mobility Scheme, part of the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme, supports short-term professional mobility for artists and culture professionals across sectors, with a primary focus on transcontinental (Africa–Africa) mobility. Mobility activities must take place between 1 January and 31 August 2027.

Implemented by the Goethe-Institut in partnership with Expertise France and Institut français, the scheme promotes dialogue and cooperation between African and European cultural actors, fostering peer learning exchange, co-creation and mutual understanding. It aims to strengthen professional networks, enable research and collaborative projects, create access to new markets, audiences and professional contexts, and build lasting partnerships.

The mobility grant supports artistic and professional development, research, co-creation and co-development, mentorships, residencies, structured learning programmes, professional networking, cultural exchange, participation in exhibitions and cultural events, and attendance or performance at conferences, festivals and international events.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over and currently based in Sub-Saharan Africa or the European Union. EU-based applicants must demonstrate existing partnerships, collaborations or previous engagement with African cultural actors. Applicants must be artists or culture professionals working in visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, film, media arts, cultural heritage, design, architecture or fashion design. Applications are individual only and applicants must have established connections or confirmed invitations in their destination country.

The grant provides up to 4,000 EUR per mobility. It covers international and domestic travel, with flat rates of 1,500 EUR for travel within Sub-Saharan Africa and 1,000 EUR for travel between Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Visa and insurance costs are reimbursed at actual cost. Additional Family Support (300 EUR per dependent child under 18 years of age) and Disability Support (30 EUR per implementation day) are available.
